Here you will find a listing of the main categories of Christian Book Reviews currently available on BookDisciple. Reviewing and recommending the top Christian books available today is the main aim of this website…
So, this is where the paper meets the hand! Okay, okay, maybe ‘the rubber meets the road’ still sounds better.
Why write Christian Book Reviews?
I write these reviews to help visitors of BookDisciple avoid
reading material that will waste their time or mislead them. I also
hope to encourage people to read good quality Christian books more
often, and grow as disciples of Jesus Christ in the process.
God has transformed my life through the books I discovered and read. He can do the same for you…
Not all books I read make this list.
Fortunately, a decent percentage does, so maybe the amount of bad books
‘out there’ is not as bad as I feared. Those Christian Publishers have
impressive filtering systems…
I do not even want you to be reading Christian Book Reviews on bad books – that is enough of a waste of time. I would much rather try and keep up
with the high number of excellent new books released each year. It annoys me to spend a good couple of days to read something, and then have nothing to write about…
Shouldn’t
I warn you about bad misleading books? I guess you can say that, but I
do not want to criticize or judge any of Christ’s followers. God will
do that. It is a bad testament to Christianity when those
outside the faith (with their surprisingly impressive Bible knowledge)
see us Christians disagree and argue with each other instead of loving
one another as Jesus tells us to.
We should rather focus our energy on the positive, love and respect our neighbors, and change the world!
Real Pinky and the Brain stuff… Oops, no! They wanted to take over the
world, right? We just want to love and change the world...
Part
of the discernment I use to decide which books I should read and review
is to listen to trusted friends in ministry, look at those books that
trustworthy authors refer to, and to read books winning book awards
from reputable Christian magazines and organizations.
I
also try and read books by authors I already know and trust, and look
for endorsements by such authors on new books by authors I am not
familiar with. All this leads me to read and review the better books in publication.
Below is a list of the categories of Christian books that I review here. Please select a category and start reading...
Enjoy reading the Christian Book Reviews! I hope it will inspire you to read some of these life-changing books. That’s even more fun than reading the reviews.
