Reading Pathways of Christian Books to Help Disciples Grow!
When Christians get stuck, making no progress on the road to holiness, God often uses Christian books to give them the necessary boost. The effect that the right book can have at the right moment can be compared to a car with battery problems being jump-started.
It is like reading the manual of a new appliance. It works! Well, okay. Reading the manual of a new appliance does not always work... This page gives you, disciple of Jesus Christ, some suggested reading pathways. Where you are at on your road to Spiritual maturity (if there is such a thing) or your road toward holiness (the never-ending road), will determine where you will feel most at home. There are three pathways: Ready...... Aim... and Fire!
The ‘Ready’ pathway is for new Christians. Read these Christian books in the first year or two after you stopped playing games and got serious about following Jesus. The ‘Aim’ pathway is for those Christians starting to align their lives with the will of God. Read these books to gain complete control over your sinful nature and to start changing the world through your life. The ‘Fire’ pathway is for those Christians who are on fire for God. The Christian books listed here will struggle to keep you busy. You will devour them and find that you are already implementing some of the teaching they give. These books help you unleash all that you have to offer on the enemy and to make significant changes in the world. Books on leadership and the tougher arguments about the Christian faith will generally be included in the ‘Fire’ reading pathway. When you have patiently walked all the pathways (okay, READ all the pathways) I pray that you will be a tool in the hands of God. He would have formed you in a big way, but now you must stay in his hands so that He can use you! Okay, we have done enough talking. Let’s get into the Christian books that make up the three pathways... Oops! Almost forgot.
Obviously, someone outside the Christian faith will not really be interested in reading Christian books... If you want to read about the faith, but currently do not believe it is true, why don’t you visit the Faith Seekers section. It was created to cater for those thinking just like you...
Ready......
The Treasure Principle by Randy Alcorn. Guess what? We can take our financial treasure with us to heaven. No, just kidding... But we can send it ahead and live in luxury when we arrive.
Peppermint-filled-Pinatas by Eric Michael Bryant. To be like our Lord, we need to stop being tolerant of each other. We need to love each other. Eric will inspire you to really engage your world for Jesus.
Lord, Teach Me to Pray in 28 Days by Kay Arthur. In this book Kay Arthur shows readers very practically how to pray, what to pray and what to expect when you pray. An excellent book on prayer.
The Dream Giver by Bruce Wilkinson. This might be the book you have been waiting for. The one that will finally set you free to live your dream!
Aim...
The Barbarian Way by Erwin McManus. Christ did not die to make our ride on earth smooth and trouble-free. We are to be barbarians in a very real war. We need to reconnect humanity to God.
Revolution by George Barna. Millions of disciples have left the church. They have decided to be the Church instead. Learn all about it, and if you have not done so already, join the Revolution!
More Ready Than You Realize by Brian D McLaren. This little book teaches big lessons on postmodern evangelism. Learn how ready you, and those Jesus misses most, are for authentic spiritual friendship.
Experiencing the Cross by Henry Blackaby. What is the Bible all about? What is the point of it all? I am sure God would answer: the cross of Jesus. It is your only opportunity for victory over sin.
Stand Against the Wind by Erwin Raphael McManus. This book is aimed at 18-35 year old readers and is an absolute work of art. You should read it regardless of your age.
Flashbang by Mark Steele. Learn how to stop making a big noise, but have no impact. Let your explosions leave a permanent crater of love in this world.
Sex God by Rob Bell. Good reading for everyone, not just those in sexual relationships. This book will help you find freedom from all types of sin.
Fire!
The Gospel According to Starbucks by Leonard Sweet. Leonard Sweet introduces a new, passionate life. A life of EPIC proportions that you'd gladly stand in line for, just like Starbucks coffee.
Chasing Daylight by Erwin McManus. By seizing a divine moment, Jonathan completely altered the course of Israel’s history. This book will teach you to seize every moment that awaits you.
Velvet Elvis by Rob Bell. Take a long hard look at Rob Bell's painting. Have a fresh new look at the Christian faith. It is beautiful, but it makes you think long and hard.
