Christian videos on a Christian book website! Unbelievable… What is it that I don’t grasp?

My apologies. See, in addition to being a resource about good Christian books, BookDisciple.com cannot ignore the fact that in this postmodern era where information and experience is everything, there are numerous forms of Christian media being used by God.

Plus, watching videos is a really handy alternative to reading if you are tired or don’t have any exciting books at hand…

Watching Christian videos is one way to see some of the most influential Christian teachers without having to travel all over the world. The international postal and courier services are of such quality nowadays that you can obtain anything from anywhere. If you are patient of course. Not a patient. Patient.

Disciples of Jesus should acknowledge all this and use Christian videos.

The term ‘Christian videos’ is such a lame term. Let me start by trying to define what I mean.

There are many different types of Christian videos available:

Firstly, you get whole conferences or summits on DVD. Here I am thinking of Mosaic’s Ethos or Origins DVDs or the Willow Leadership summit DVDs. If you can’t go, at least you get to watch…

There is a new fashion of releasing Christian short films. Here the NOOMA DVDs or the Chazown DVDs are some of the first ones to come to mind.

There are DVDs available in your local Christian bookstore that contain one good sermon on an important topic only. This is another example of Christian videos used by God, but they surely could add some more content…

There are some DVDs aimed specifically at reaching those who don’t consider themselves disciples. What comes to mind here are the newly released Crave DVDs by Erwin McManus and The Case for Christ DVD by Lee Strobel. These would make excellent gifts to friends who are searching for meaning.

Then, finally, you get some really helpful curricula (I can’t believe I just typed that word) or bible study courses on a specific topic. These DVDs are helpful if you need guidance or teaching in a certain area of your spiritual safari.

So, bottom line is that there are some excellent resources available to help you grow as a disciple. And… I have a dream.

I have a dream to be used by God to write passionately and with zeal, in a funny, (post)modern style on the internet about books and other media that God is using to carry out his mission and to help others find freedom in Jesus Christ.

It is a God-sized dream, and I would like to reach 1,000,000,000 over my lifetime through this wonderful medium called the internet. Are you laughing yet? I’m not. I wanted to pick a number that was absolutely impossible for any human being, and 1 billion it is.

And you are not going to stop me! But… it is not that you were trying now is it?

So, without further silly humor and with loving care, I will from time to time post reviews of good videos here. I hope and pray that they will affect your life as positively as they did mine. Let me know if there is anything that you would like to see reviewed.
