Review of The Case for Christ - The Film,
by Lee Strobel

The Case for Christ – The Film

The Video and its Topic

The Case for Christ was originally published as a book by Lee Strobel, an ex-atheist. I applaud his efforts to make the findings of his investigation and book available to a broader audience by putting it into DVD format. It was launched on September the 11th, 2007. The six year anniversary of one of the biggest tragedies of human history – the attack on the twin towers.

It discusses possibly the biggest miracle of human history – that of God taking on human form, and paying the price for our sins on a Roman cross.

Lee Strobel was an atheist when his wife decided to believe in Jesus and to start following him. He was a journalist at the time, and if I understand correctly, he reported on justice, so he had a fair understanding of evidence and the way a verdict is reached.

He was scared of losing his wife to this “cult” called Christianity, so he decided to attend church with her, journalist’s notebook in his hand, and start proving the folly behind her new-found beliefs.

The situation evolved and the urgency increased, and Lee decided to do a full-scale investigation which he called The Case for Christ. This DVD details the process he took and the findings he reached. It is filled with testimony by experts in their respective fields, and is a well-structured investigation.

Lee firstly considers eyewitness testimony by investigating the gospel accounts of the New Testament. He looks for evidence pointing conclusively to them being either true or false, either rooted in eyewitness testimony or not.

Then he and the experts he interviews turn to Jesus. They analyze Him, the claims He made, his alleged ability to forgive sins, and the prophecies He either did or did not fulfil.

Finally, Lee turns to the resurrection. The reason for this is that if the resurrection did take place, the claims Jesus made must be true. If not, then we can easily conclude that it was all made up, and carry on wondering why we are really here.

Lee and Leslie Strobel’s story and the events that took place during Lee’s investigation is included in the DVD. It makes it a bit more personal. A nice touch...

It is a worthwhile DVD to watch. We all need to make up our minds about this Jesus of Nazareth!

So, how does it watch?

It is good, professional film. There would be no difference in quality and sound between a major box office movie and this film. I enjoyed the riveting images of the events discussed and the excellent use of relevant sound.

A worthwhile, entertaining, and interesting watch...

Conclusion

Jesus is still a hot topic for argument and discussion, and He’s been dead for almost two millennia. No matter what, one thing is sure... We all need to form an opinion on this controversial man. We all need to make up our own minds on what we believe about him.

It would be a very wise decision to consider all the evidence in The Case for Christ before making up your mind, won’t you agree?

That is the main reason why I am highly recommending to everyone out there, absolutely everyone, to watch this DVD. Consider all the evidence, reach your verdict, and decide where you stand. I must warn you though, the evidence is overwhelming...
